Sesame Street in Communities Demonstration Project
Overview
All Rise’s Center for Advancing Justice manages the Sesame Street in Communities (SSIC) Demonstration Project. This training and technical assistance project is designed to help teams integrate SSIC resources into their programs. SSIC resources are focused on improving communication with children and families about substance use and incarceration. All Rise encourages implementation of SSIC resources into treatment court programs to help participants build their social and community recovery capital.
All Rise will select six treatment courts to participate in the project, which will run from February to December 2025.
Before You Apply
Participation in the project is open to all treatment court types. Teams must be ready to commit to integrating SSIC resources into their programs. The application process will assess team readiness to:
- Engage in training and action planning
- Implement SSIC resources in various program components
- Participate in virtual coaching and peer-to-peer learning
Project Timeline
The project will run from February to December 2025 and includes the following key activities:
- One-day in-person training (March-June 2025) where each team will discuss strategies for improving communication with children and families about substance use and incarceration; review SSIC resources; and develop action plans to implement said resources in treatment settings, program phases, family case plans, and interactions from the bench
- Action planning and virtual coaching (July-November 2025) where each team will receive individualized coaching to complete action plan tasks and address implementation challenges
- Peer-to-peer learning will occur via four online meetings throughout the year to connect demonstration sites, fostering shared learning and collaboration
- Virtual project close-out meeting and certificate ceremony (December 2025) where participants will come together virtually to celebrate accomplishments
Cost
There are no participation fees or travel costs associated with the project. However, the one-day in-person training will be hosted on-site at each selected court’s location, and each participating court will be required to provide a suitable training space (fully equipped with audio and visual capabilities) for that day.
