Standards of Justice Podcast
Challenging traditional ideas around what it means to serve justice
Through compelling firsthand accounts and thoughtful conversation, this season explores how treatment courts are transforming the justice system’s approach to people impacted by substance use and mental health disorders by prioritizing recovery, health, and community. Hosted by All Rise director of communications Chris Deutsch, we present a vision of justice grounded in an understanding of what works, what doesn’t, and an abiding belief in people’s capacity to change.
When Justice Heals: A personal story of addiction, recovery, and moments that transform lives
In honor of National Recovery Month, we are pleased to offer a special first episode featuring a conversation with treatment court alumna, certified peer recovery support specialist, and National Treatment Court Alumni Association co-founder and board member Deena Davis.
Deena bravely shares her story and offers invaluable insight into:
- What it’s like to sit across from the treatment court team for the first time feeling scared and ashamed,
- Examples from her time in treatment court that reveal the why behind participant behavior, and
- Her transition from participant to alumna to treatment court team member, and an incident during staffing that was both devastating and the impetus for meaningful change.
This is a must-listen for everyone working to advance treatment and recovery.
