Hon. Jonathan Cleary
Hon. Jonathan N. Cleary is a trial court judge in Dearborn County, Indiana, and the presiding judge for both the regional Southeastern Indiana Veterans Treatment Court and the Dearborn County Drug Court. During his tenure as chair of the problem-solving courts committee for the Judicial Conference of Indiana, he helped expand treatment courts to 160 statewide. He is the secretary of the All Rise Board of Directors and co-chair of the strategic planning committee for the Judicial Conference of Indiana. He served as chair of the Regional Judicial Opioid Initiative Treatment Committee, working across eight midwestern states to overcome potential barriers for justice-involved individuals seeking treatment and other services.
Prior to the bench, Judge Cleary served as the chief deputy prosecuting attorney for three Indiana counties. He is an honorary lifetime member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 71 and a recipient of the Sgt. Steven P. Mennemeyer Memorial Award and the Disabled American Veterans’ Appreciation Award. Judge Cleary has been a presenter for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision, Indiana Attorney General, Judicial Conference of Indiana, and more. He received his bachelor of science degree from Purdue University and his juris doctor degree from the Indiana University School of Law.
