Hon. David Ashworth
Hon. David L. Ashworth was elected to the bench of the Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Court of Common Pleas in 1999 and was reelected to his third 10-year term in 2019. He was elected president judge for a five-year term beginning in 2020. Prior to the bench, Judge Ashworth served as a trial attorney for 20 years. He is a senior adjunct professor at Franklin & Marshall College and a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Pennsylvania Conference of State Trial Judges, and Pennsylvania Association of Treatment Court Professionals (PATCP), of which he is a past president. In October 2024, he received the first PATCP President’s Award in recognition of his service and commitment to the success of treatment courts in the state and nationwide. Judge Ashworth was appointed by the state supreme court as a member of the statewide drug court accreditation committee. He received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Gettysburg College and graduated with honors from the Widener University Delaware Law School.
