Adrienne Kennedy
Adrienne Kennedy is a commissioner on the Texas Judicial Commission on Mental Health, a permanent commission established in 2018 by the Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. She also serves as vice chair of the board of directors of the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. She is the past president of the board of directors of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and continues to serve as a national trainer of NAMI programs for providers and programs designed for families or professionals working with children and teens. In 2023, she received NAMI’s National Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ms. Kennedy graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor of arts degree in social sciences and journalism, and a master of arts degree in education administration. After a career in education research and teacher development, she now devotes herself to mental health policy, especially in the areas of early interventions, diversion practices, and judicial advancements. Her work in these areas is prompted by decades of the lived experiences of family members with mental health disorders and substance use issues.
