Veterans Treatment Court Foundational Workshop
Tools for planned, new, and existing veterans treatment court programs

Overview
This interactive workshop provides the foundation for successful veterans treatment courts and is designed for veterans court programs still in the planning stages, as well as those operating without formal training and/or with significant staff turnover. The workshop is offered at no cost to your jurisdiction.
Accepted programs participate in a six-month facilitated process that includes both online and in-person components, as well as follow-up consultation from expert staff. At the end of the foundational workshop, programs will have developed or improved program structures, policy and procedure manuals, and team dynamics built from the latest evidence-based best practices.
Before You Apply
What you need to apply:
- The full treatment court team (at minimum: judge, prosecutor, defense counsel, court coordinator, community supervision, substance use treatment provider, law enforcement, evaluator/researcher, as well as the veterans justice outreach specialist and veteran mentor coordinator)
- The full team’s commitment to participate in every step, including completing the pre-workshop online modules and attending the entire workshop
- One point of contact for all coordination
- The ability to secure adequate training space and technology

Important Dates
The application deadline is Friday, November 14, 2025. Justice for Vets will contact each accepted program individually to schedule 2026 workshop dates.
Cost
There is no cost to your jurisdiction for this workshop. This project is supported by BJA Grant No. 15PBJA-23-GK-02424-VTCX, which was awarded by the Bureau of Justice (BJA).
