Domingo Herraiz

Domingo Herraiz has more than 40 years of experience in federal, state, and local government and public safety policy. He is the director of programs for the International Association of Chiefs of Police, where he oversees the association’s work in the areas of officer safety and wellness, officer suicide, mental health, crisis response, children and youth, justice system reform, information sharing and technology, human trafficking, domestic violence and sexual assault, crime and victimization, and community–police engagement.

Previously, Mr. Herraiz served as director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance within the Office of Justice Programs at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), responsible for leading DOJ’s largest funding and policy unit for state, local, and tribal justice issues. Prior to that, Mr. Herraiz served as director of the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services; he was the first Hispanic cabinet member in Ohio history. He also served as the executive director of the Ohio Crime Prevention Association. He received his bachelor of arts degree in political science from Ohio University.
