Rebuilding Community
We love seeing treatment courts building partnerships and making a difference in their communities:
- New Hampshire’s Hillsborough County South Adult Drug Court teamed up with Revive Recovery Center for a community cleanup in Nashua.
- Minnesota’s St. Louis County Treatment Courts held an art and talent show in addition to their graduation ceremony.
- Georgia’s Dekalb County Accountability Court partnered with Keep DeKalb Beautiful to pick up trash and plant flowers at the courthouse and treatment center (top L).
- Pennsylvania’s Luzerne County Treatment Court held a sober softball tournament with other local treatment court teams, participants, alumni, and police departments (bottom L).
- Michigan’s 41B treatment courts took on a wide variety of community assistance projects in May, including a cleanup event, planting a vegetable garden to donate to local transitional housing programs and women’s shelters, and collecting toys for the local children’s hospital.
- Kentucky’s Lee, Owsley, and Estill Counties treatment court participants made bird feeders for elderly residents to enjoy.
- New Mexico’s Bernalillo County Community Veterans Court team participants, alumni, team members, and veteran mentors participated in the annual VA2K Walk & Roll event to support homeless veterans (R).
Milestones and Innovations
- California’s Sen Bernardino County Collaborative Courts celebrated 30 years (top L).
- Oregon’s Douglas County HOPE Court asks participants to complete a graduation project; one recent graduate built a handcrafted sweat lodge for veterans (top R).
- Minnesota welcomed over 200 people to the Minnesota State Capitol for a treatment court rally, where graduates spoke about the power of recovery and how the programs helped them change their lives (bottom L).
- Tennessee’s 19th Judicial District Mental Health Court organized a trip for participants to Broken Wing Ranch to experience equine therapy (bottom R).
- Alaska’s therapeutic courts celebrated 25 years.
- Arizona’s Coconino County Treatment Court reached 1,003 graduates.
