Free Course on Parental Addiction
Sesame Workshop Offers New Course on Parental Addiction
All Rise’s Center for Advancing Justice is proud of our partnership with Sesame Street in Communities, and we’re thrilled to announce a new resource that will be invaluable to the treatment court field. Sesame Workshop now offers a free, self-paced, online training course, “Hand in Hand: Supporting Children and Families Impacted by Parental Addiction.”
This is a welcome resource for all treatment court types, since all programs serve families impacted by addiction who need support, compassion, and resources that work for them. The “Hand in Hand” course is designed for caregivers, providers, courts, and community partners to better understand and respond to children experiencing parental addiction. It includes videos, reflection activities, and practical tools for immediate use.
The “Hand in Hand” course:
- Provides resources for courts, community agencies, treatment teams, and other partners to integrate into case planning, court review hearings, peer support, and parenting classes. These tools are free and ready-made for easy, practical implementation.
- Helps treatment and social service providers build skills and confidence to support the emotional needs of children, especially those who have experienced trauma. You’ll learn how to talk about tough topics, build safety and trust, and support healing.
- Shares ways for caregivers to comfort, connect, and communicate through difficult emotions with children experiencing parental addiction. You’ll gain insight into how to help children feel safe and understood, one step at a time.
