Since the early 2000s, the rate of suicide among veterans has increased dramatically, with an estimated 20 or more veterans per day completing suicide. This webinar explores national and local trends in suicide, mental health, and suicide data related to the COVID-19 pandemic, and veteran suicide statistics across service eras to help veterans treatment court staff, mentors, and community partners understand the complexity of the risk facing veterans in the justice system. Although no model of suicidal behavior has been able to sufficiently explain, predict, and prevent suicide, this webinar covers several hypotheses and correlated risk factors related to suicide both generally and in the veteran population.
